Journaling As A Journey To Your Innermost Self

Journaling is a voyage to the interior - Christina Baldwin

This is my tenth post of #BlogChatterA2Z2023. To be honest, while writing Anxiety, I never thought I'd make it up to here. It has been surprisingly easy, though. In the beginning, I kept demotivating myself saying I would run out of ideas and that I wouldn't be able to meet the deadlines. But as I sat to write, it felt effortless. It felt like I belonged.

We often find it difficult to express our innermost feelings. Before you know it, it turns into a complicated jumble in your thoughts. That's where writing comes in. You write. The openness of a blank page lying in front of you sucks out your deepest, most tangled feelings, untangles them and helps you spit it all out. It is a way of vomiting out everything that troubles you. The page takes it all in, separating you from it. You feel relieved. It feels as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders, and you no longer have to bear the burden alone. You've got help. Yes, it is a method of helping yourself.

Even when you write about a joyful experience, it gives you the sense that you have shared it with someone.  After all, what good is happiness if it can't be shared?

Writing/journaling is a mental exercise. It helps you keep track of where you are in life. "Journaling is like therapy, except you are the therapist and the patient."

While To My Fellow Diarists was for anyone that keeps a journal, this is applicable to every individual out there, because life is a rollercoaster - we are going to have our highs and lows. At all those moments, use journaling as your speed dial.

  1. Some diaries have become classics. Do I smell one here?

  2. Openness of a blank page - I felt those words. I use journaling for precisely this reason :)
